LONDON — In what felt like a weird throwback to the late 1990s and 2000s, Tony Blair was back in election campaigning mode Tuesday.
The former prime minister publicly threw his weight behind current Labour leader Ed Miliband while slamming the Conservatives' plan to hold a referendum on the UK leaving the European Union.
Blair warned that a EU referendum is a "completely unacceptable gamble with our nation's future" and asked if a Conservative government would hold periodic referendums "just to check popular feeling."
