EU holds urgent talks after 700 migrants killed in latest Mediterranean tragedy

EU ministers are meeting in Luxembourg Monday to discuss the ongoing migrant crisis in the Mediterranean after another boat capsized in the waters north of Libya on Sunday with hundreds on board.

While the numbers involved in the latest incident in the region are unclear, the Italian Coast Guard said that the capsized boat had a capacity for "hundreds" of people. Italian prosecutors said a Bangladeshi survivor flown to Sicily for treatment told them 950 people were aboard, including hundreds who had been locked in the hold by smugglers.
