9 things 'The Muppet Show' reboot needs to suceed and satisfy on TV

It's time to play the music. It's time to light the lights. It's time to meet the Muppets back on network television?


On Friday, reports surfaced that ABC is exploring a Muppet Show revival, setting the Muppet Theatre stage for a primetime return of slapstick sketches, musical numbers and flying fishBig Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady is set to pen the script, along with 3rd Rock From the Sun writer Bob Kushell, which could be previewed for advertisers at upfronts in May, according to The Hollywood Reporter .



The television experience and entertainment consumption as whole has vastly changed since The Muppet Show first aired in 1976. Streaming and on-demand services provide a seemingly infinite selection for viewers, and landing a primetime network television slot no longer holds the prestige (or attention) it once did.
