Sarah Brady, gun control champion and widow of James Brady, dies at 73

Sarah Brady, who became an ardent gun control advocate after her husband was shot in the head in an assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan in 1981, died on Friday.


In an email to the Associated Press, relatives said Brady died in a retirement community in Alexandria, Virginia, after battling pneumonia. She was 73.



Brady took up the anti-gun cause in 1985, four years after her husband, former White House Press Secretary James Brady, was paralyzed from a gunshot wound to the head. James Brady died on August 4 of last year, also at age 73. Read more...
