That’s not in keeping with the Hanukkah spirit, Kaiya.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday said his dog had been taken into quarantine after biting two people during a Hanukkah candle-lighting party.
In a Facebook post, Netanyahu said his family had to give up the 10-year-old dog, which they adopted in July, for a 10-day assessment of her behavior as required under Israeli law.
The Jerusalem Post reported the incident happened at a candle-lighting party for government members at Netanyahu's home on Wednesday night, when the dog, named Kaiya, bit two people, including the husband of Israel's deputy foreign minister.
Writing on Facebook, Netanyahu said he believed the quarantine law should be changed.
"It has flaws that aren't consistent with reason and compassion," he wrote.
Still, he wished everyone, human or otherwise, a happy Hanukkah.
"Happy [Hanukkah] and Shabbat Shalom to everyone," he wrote, "whether you walk on two legs or four."
