Rose Siggins, an actress who appeared in American Horror Story: Freak Show, died Saturday. She was 43.

A representative for the actress told TMZ she contracted an infection during kidney stone surgery in a Denver hospital on Monday and never regained consciousness.

Siggins' legs were amputated as an infant after she was born with a rare genetic disorder known as sacral agenesis that deformed her spine and limited the use of her lower limbs.

"In the '70s when I was born, the medical idea was, if it doesn't work, take it away," she told Yahoo last year of the reason behind the surgery. "And now today we find out, if it doesn't work, keep it."

Despite her disability, she was able to give birth to two children: a son, Luke, and daughter, Shelby.

"My [first] pregnancy was extraordinary and ground breaking, no one with sacral agenesis had carried a baby to nearly full term nor gave birth to a normal child," she wrote on her website.

Siggins gained attention last year when she appeared as the character "Legless Suzi" on FX's fourth season of American Horror Story.

"Legless Suzi is a very scared and frightened person," she told Yahoo of her character. "I can't imagine people treating you so poorly because of how you looked."

Siggins' other television credits included Ripley's Believe It Or Not and the documentary series Extraordinary People.

“I kind of like the way I am, I would never change it,” Siggins said in a AHS promotional video last year. “I couldn’t imagine myself being what everyone called ‘normal,’ because this is my normal.”

On Twitter, former AHS castmates paid tribute to Siggins, with many sharing a link to a GoFundMe account set up to support the late actor's children.
