A 2-year-old boy was in a critical condition after the crash that killed his family. What caused the vehicle to drive into Tempe Town Lake remains under investigation.
The parents — a 25-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man — and a 6-month-old girl were taken to a hospital where they were pronounced dead, the Arizona Republic reported.
A 3-year-old boy was alive in hospital in "extremely critical condition," police said.
All the children had been buckled into carseats, police told KPHO.
The names of the family members had not been released as of Sunday afternoon.
Investigations were continuing into how the vehicle ended up in Tempe Town Lake.
